Old Broilmaster Original Owner

So our friends up in MN he's got this old Broilmaster he bought back in the mid 70s. So old igniters were "optional" so to save $$$ he bought it without the "clicker". Anyway it's only on it's second burner, and he got that directly from Broilmaster. I cooked on it while there on Saturday. A prime grade Pichana and it it was melt in your mouth tender and delish with nice "cracklin" on top. Also did fresh picked corn. He's actually thinking he might like to sell it because he picked up an old Genesis 2 burner sidewinder from an original owner who maybe used it a handful of times total. But I have no idea what he should ask for it. Even the PCI enameled grates are still perfect and shiny under the grease

In my area these older models bring in $100-200, maybe a bit more if working well. Newer models go for more but sit on the market for some time. They just don't get their due with the shiny stainless crowd.
It would seem wrong to just sell the grates but I bet there's a bigger market for them than the entire grill.

I’ve never been able to get passed those lugs looking like large plastic totes. Cool grill!
Not sure what you mean by the large "lugs". Also I forgot to mention how many times I nearly burned myself on it because when my friend bought this he not only did not buy the igniter kit, but the second handle on right side of the lid. Being right handed I kept trying to grab the very hot lid.
Bottom line despite being a lava rock grill it got me an exceptionally nice cook on that pichana

After using one years ago at my brother in law's, I favored them over anything I had used. I hadn't used a Genesis yet. When my old Fiesta grill's firebox failed I searched for a used Broilmaster. If one had been out there at that time, I'd probably be on a Broilmaster forum somewhere arguing about ceramic briquettes.

Good thing a nice Silver A was nearby for $25!

Lugs was supposed to say things. My phone does a stellar job of auto-incorrecting some stuff

I think those old broilmasters were highly thought of back in the 70's. I redid one and would up selling one for around $400. It was about 5-6 years ago and really a fun project, but it was clear that doing them as rehabs was just not feasible. The parts that were available were very high priced. I was lucky and got a lot of my parts from a site that was clearing out their inventory. It was a lot of labor involved as well so my profit margin had to be augmented with the joy factor in doing the rehab.
