Official Rules for Battle I

Eggs??? How are we supposed to keep them from running through the grill grate?
i watched a show the other night to grasp the whole idea of this event... and one contestant complained about the inferior phyllo dough that was given to each... funny, one judge said to him, "Don't get mad at the fhyllo"...

Well, whaddaya know... Haven't participated much on here since my usual access point blocked out the livecloud ID system for some reason... But it works now!
This is going to be great... I just called my dad ( a 4th generation MEF&ECS) and he's going into the recipe vault. We can sling an egg till the chickens come home.

After the experience of one TVWBB Iron Chef Challenge, I’m thinking maybe we could alter the rules a bit. I’ve been so impressed with my teammates’ and challengers’ process photos (posted after the judging event), that I’m thinking that a couple more pics per presentation post, plus description might be helpful for the judging process. It wouldn’t be necessary to describe the final dish at that time. (For example, I had no idea that Clark made his own mozzarella, until I saw his presentation pics AFTER the judging).
Any other thoughts?

Agree fully, actually I talked with Jeff a bit about the number of pics after we made our dishes because it was just impossible to figure out what to put up. I also think 2 or 3 final pics would be beneficial as well. For me there could have been one of the whole ravioli, one cut open with the yolk gushing, and then one partially eaten to show the sauce below and how all the aspects of the dish came together at the end. Just my $0.02 but the whole process was awesome and much respect to Jeff for putting it together!

Lets say 4-6 prep photos and 1-3 plated photos per dish. There's is an element to planning your shots that I think needs to be a part of the competition. We don't want anyone getting lazy and slapping up a dozen shots

For Battle II, I propose giving the MVP's the right to first refusal for judging. This will give Rita a chance to jump back in if she has the time. Nothing against the honorable judging Jim K did, but I think we should keep the seat(s) fluid and find a new judge or judges depending on which MVP's opt out. Any open seats will be offered to the Battle I participants in order of their individual dish scores. I think that would mean Gary would be offered the first open seat.

Now we just need some competitors!?!?
