So here was the dilemma.
Years ago I rescued a no-date coded 18" WSM that the previous owners abused and used for a firepit. I cleaned it up, ordered new grates and added Brinkmann pan, a Cajun Bandit door and stuck a thermo/bezel on it and it went to my nephew who learned the bullet ways.
Over the holidaze he mentioned the bowl had rusted out and Santa was bringing a shiny new 22" WSM his way. But he was on the fence over ordering a new bowl for the 18 or getting a smaller kettle for the road.
I offered an alternative.
I salvaged the legs and vents for another project and cut the lip off the bowl.
Shortened the legs and cut off one of the rods on each side of the A frame and added two pair of wheels to an "AH" 18" OTS.
WSM center & lid
The bowl lip in the center section for using the Silver lid
A OTG ash can assembly is on order and this is ready to roll!
Best of both worlds! Smokin' & Grillin'!
Enjoy!
