Oakridge

I was just at my local Oakridge rubs retailer and I was after a few I was getting short on.
Now I know the owner on a pretty good level and he shared some information with me.
He had some less than good news.
He said a few things, something along the lines of Oakridge having an annual sales pre Covid of around 12 million.
He supplied a lot of bbq joints wth tons of product.
With less business at bbq joints his sales during Covid had seemed to drop around 2 million or something like that.
Oakridge is under a lot of pressure and is possibly closing up unless someone is willing to come along and invest in the company is what he was talking about next......
Apparently there is some interest and it might have happened or it might be happening. I don’t know all the details so we might get to keep buying Oakridge or it may go under.
My retailer said he offered to buy the business from him if he ends up selling.
That would be perfect, he is about 20 minutes from my house.....it seems highly unlikely of course.
On top of all that he said next he is not able to bring Oakridge in anymore due to some number he has to purchase or something....basically more government roadblocks to make life harder or something.....
They need to know where the spices come from when importing or something...I didn’t really understand everything he was saying about that part of our conversation. It’s going to be hard for me to keep obtaining this great product.
I did come home with 2 more competitions and he gave me for free a dominator rub, it says ribs on the outside. He likes it a lot and said I should try it out.
I will be calling him again soon and probably buying what I can from him in bulk and hopefully getting a good price on it.
Do yourself a favour and get out there and order or go get a few, they are great rubs, high quality small batch rubs that is hard to beat with anything you have at home.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I love the Carna Crosta on steak and when I went to pick it up from my local bbq store, a few weeks ago, they said they stopped carrying it. They said people just stop buying and asking for it. I was able to pick it up on Amazon for a great price and I am about to order another bag for back up. I don't keep many store bought rubs in my collection, but that is one that I love.

I have a back up bag of that stuff too.....it's nice to use every once in a while
Switch it up with a more standard steak spicing. I us another premade sometimes, it has a unique flavor.
Kind of tastes like it could be dill.

I've used several of their product. Nothing has really blown me away but they are good. I know some of their rubs are popular on the competition circuit. The owner of Oakridge managed to get his website blacklisted by Google, or so he claims, by hosting some conspiracy stuff on the same server as his company website. That might or might not be true but that would have put a dent in his sales. Every other thing barbecue or grilling related had boomed during Covid times, other than the restaurants themselves.

I don't know what I posted in the original post is actual fact, I was just told the situation was like that. Based on being told that he provided spice to numerous restaurants and similar would be where I could see him loosing business.....times were tough and you had to scrap by if you were going to try and survive. We will see, I haven't heard anything more about it and I have 1 supplier left near by with a few bags of the good stuff I might buy up......get me through the season anyways.
