I've used both. Prefer white due to it being denser than the red.If I can't get white either one is good.
 
I tell myself I can tell a difference and prefer red, but in a blind taste test could I really tell the difference? I doubt it . . .
 
I've only used the red from smokinlicious and love it. Bought some bagged white from Meijers and it was ok.I need to try the white from smokinlicious as they sell both.
