The lump learning curve continues...

Simple NY Strips with a Cobb Salad tonight.

In my limited time using lump I've found that a lot of small coals fall through the standard charcoal grate. I bought another one and set it 90 Deg. to the original one. Worked great.

Forgot to take a "just on" pic. Here they are at the turn...3 minutes a side, rotating 90 deg. at the 1:30 mark.

Had mine as a entree with the Cobb Salad as a side.

My wife had her's as a steak salad.

We both agree, best "salad meal" of the season so far...

Outstanding steak and salad. A Cobb salad is probably my favorite salad there is even though its probably the worst healthy thing there is.

....AND you said, "the Cobb Salad as a side" ...? Maybe on the SIDE of that AWESOME lookin' Steak! That CobSalad is LampeSized!

DonCash, I'm Coming overFor tomorrow's Dinner!

"As the Lump Turns"
to be continued....

Another outstanding looking meal Don!

And thanks for not shying away from showing your pigtail/meat-hook!
I would never 'stick' any meat, but my recently purchased hook is handy as heck!
Hook the meat on an edge, and flip.
No harm, no foul!
Makes me feel like a cook on a cattle drive!

Yeah, I love my pigtail. I've had steaks that were ruined by being overcooked. I've never had a steak that was ruined by being turned with a pigtail. I get why people don't like it, but I do.

Good thought with the grates, Don! Haven't tried the "pig tail" yet. At the risk of being nosy - where are you buying your strips? Thanks, Cliff

Great looking meal.

And Don, thanks for the two coal grill set-up idea. I notice the same thing. Wastes a lot of smaller coals.

Hey, Cliff. Not nosy at all. I usually get all my beef from Tom Leonard's Farmer's Market. These however were bought from Martin's...Not as good as TL's but Martin's is less than a mile from us...

Are you in Richmond.

Thanks for the reply, Don. I like TL's meats as well, particularly since he started carrying choice a while back! Costco had Prime the other day - had a hard time looking at the $/#. We're in Wyndham - not far from TL's. Again thanks for the reply.

No problemo, Cliff.

We're in Stratford Hills, about a block form the Pony Pasture. We're getting ready to move because the Richmond City schools are awful. We're looking in the Glen Allen area...Bonus, closer to TL
