NuTemp

Just got my Nutemp. Seems simple enough. Problem I have is its instructions. Says don't put the probe in any liquid. You can't test it with the boiling water calibration. They use some lame excuse about different values for different elevations and all. Then goes on to say it will damage it. But what about putting it in a wet slab of brisket with all that fat and liquid running on it.

Just seem rather sceptical about it now.

Mark,

I used the boiling water test on all 3 of my probes when they arrived. I think what they mean is not to allow water to get into the seam where the wire and the probe join.

Even when cleaning, I clean the probe to within 1/2" of the seam and back off.

So, its still up in the air I guess. Thanks for the link.

I have a feeling that they do this for two fold. One, for seriously to warn people not to take a chance in gettin water in the junction and two to keep their butts from having to replace crap probes.

I like everything else, but their excuse that the boiling water calibration is not accurate is totally rediculus and unfortately says alot about them.

Altitude Temperature
Sea Level 212 degrees F
2,000 ft. 208 degrees F
5,000 ft. 203 degrees F
7,500 ft. 198 degrees F
10,000 ft. 194 degrees F

All they have to do is add this chart. I don't know about you guys but when testing if my probes are within 10 degrees, I never think twice.
