Notching an 18.5" Weber Kettle

I've got a 2006 model 18.5" Weber kettle and I've recently become interested in BBQ. I'd like to 'notch' my Kettle so that I can run the Maverick probe leads without them getting crimped. I don't have an angle grinder but I do have a Dremel with cutoff wheels that are supposedly for cutting metal. Specifically these are the 1.5" EZ-Lock style metal cutoff wheels. Any advice before I cut away?

That's what I used to notch mine. I just put some masking tape to protect the finish and cut away, had no problems at all.

Take a deep breath, don't close your eyes (in fact wear eye protection) and you will love the results.

I used a cutting bit (like a drill bit) on the dremel to cut it years ago. Works like a C.H.A.R.M.

Used the metal cutoff wheel, way easier than I thought it was going to be. Thanks for giving me the confidence to just go ahead and do it!
