Hello,
My 11yr old daughter is real sensative to spicy. She loves smoked ribs. I have made baby backs a few times altering the recipie but I cannot seem to find what is spicy that gets her taste buds. Any good non-spicy rib rub recipies out there I can try? Thanks!

John, look through the section of this board dedicated for Rubs, Marinades and Sauces. Chris A. posted a rub called the Rendezvous Rib rub. Just looking at the recipe, it should not be spicy. My two boys don't have much tolerance for heat and so I am always toning down recipes. Basically I look to cut out any cayenne or arbol, and really cut down on black pepper. Most chili powders don't add much heat, neither does paprika. Brown sugar and/or turbinado sugar go a long way to cut what heat might be there from the mild chili powder.
If the rub still was too spicy for young taste buds, a nice sticky sweet sauce did a lot to compensate. That and a nice glass of milk (sodas and water don't help heat but the fat in milk does).
In that rub section I gave the link for, I regularly use Jane's Butt Rub and just cut out cayenne (or arbol) and cut way down on the black pepper. My kids love it.
Thanks, I do cut down the Black Pepper and omit the cayenne but something is still getting her taste buds. I didnt think it was the Chili Powder. I will be giving them a try soon.
I did some ribs this weekend with Plowboy's Yardbird on one rack and Bone Suckin' Rub on the other. The Plowboy's is spicy, but the Bone Suckin' Rub is not. You can get both at a Bass Pro Shop.
