One Touch Platinum....I finally found a store with a better selection of Weber grills on display by working the phone looking for a dealer with many models on display. It only took me a few minutes looking the Platinum over to make my decision. She was sturdy, rolled well, and best of all the lid went back out of my way not obstructing any part of the grill. My first desire was for a performer with the light system, but then I found out how easy it was to light my chimneys using the side burner of the Genesis. I asked how many they had in stock and what colors. He came back with a "we have four......all black". Ok, I say, I'll take a black one. Priced at $235.00. Loaded up in the car and brought her home.
I would like to thank all of you who offered advice and comments on the aspects of the grills, but especially member Gary S. suggested the Platinum as he had the same concerns with the way the lid holder held the hood. Thanks Gary. I suppose that I was just too hooked on grills folding back after cooking on the charbroil for so long.
First off, a moment of silence for the 22 plus years of service, the many steaks, burgers, ribs, and chicken that the ole Charbroil served up over all those years feeding family and friends. She had the front handle replaced, the temp gauge, and painted with high temp paint several times. She was rusting out pretty bad on the sides and the fire was getting hard to contain. She was a good one. Thought about buying one like it, but decided to stay Weber. Here's the old girl on a recent and maybe last cook. This beer is for you ole girl.

Thought, for fun, I would show the the new grill from start to finish. Here's the box in the garage before unloading into my cave for assembly.

Next I took out all the parts and carried them into my room to make sure all parts were there and in good condition before putting her together. All there and in good shape with no nicks or scrapes found.

Following are the stages of assembly. I carried the box into the garage and had final assembly about 2 hours later, however the actual work was probably around 45 minutes, as i took pictures, had a cup coffee (cool in Florida today) and other stuff as I was in no hurry. The assembly instructions were all pictures, and easy to follow. No problem were encountered by ill fitting parts.

And finally all done.

Hauled her outside to be where she belongs.

Finally, a picture of the new clean Platinum joined up with her new family of not so clean Webers.
