Nicaraguan beef?

Earlier today I spotted a whole beef strip loin for $3.99/lb, and it turned out to be a product of Nicaragua. Does anyone have any experience with Nicaraguan beef? Had it been from Argentina I wouldn't've hesitated, but even at just $3.99/lb it was a bit of a gamble so I passed.

I would worry about steroids or other nasties injected in the cattle. I know the NFL just issued a warning about positive blood tests for steroids from eating Mexican and Chinese raised beef, but I don't think that was imported into this country. You probably made the right call. You could have made some Steak Sandanistawiches with them though.

We have such good beef raised in North America, why mess around with beef from Nicaragua, or China? Not worth the risk to me.

I've seen Beef labeled "Product of USA & Canada or Mexico" but never that ( I would guess it depends on the store? )
Lately it's "Born, Raised and Harvested in the USA"
