Newest "addition" to the Weber family

I've steel wooled it here, but it was in pretty rough shape when I got it. It appeared to be fairly neglected by the PO. There were 6 large-sized chips in the porcelain from an obvious directly blunt hit. Both cooking grates were fairly rusty, and it was sitting covered with a cheap HD cover.

Hand sanded, and used hi-gloss caliper paint to touch up the bad spots (obvious in the shots here, but blends fairly well in person). About an hour with the steel wool, and wire wheel to the lower cooking grate. Already had a replacement top grate. Now it looks pretty good. Paid more than I should have, but now looks worth it.

UPDATE: Better pics in post below

Outdoor pics (better detail view). Now looking worth the Ben Franklin I paid for it.

W. Tyler,

Your restoration of that WSM looks good to me. Besides, the meat won't care what it looks like.

Really like your truck. 55 or 56 (maybe newer)w/stepside bed? 265 or 283 in her?

Merry Christmas

Thanks Scotty. It's a 66 model. Has a 292, straight six in it - 4-barrel, headers and a mild cam. The "duals" are a single-in/dual-out 2 chamber Flowmaster 40. Most people think it's a small block when they hear it run.

You might be surprised just how strong the 292 straight six is.

Boy, was I really off on the model year

Could have gotten closer if I'd seen the front end but should have known by the rear glass shape. Anyway, it's a cool looking truck and it's REALLY cool you stayed with the modified straight six. Congrats on both your projects.
