Newcomer starting a 1000 rehab

Damn and I came on here to look at new grills as I'm thinking about retiring my circa 1993 red genesis for a new unit . . . nice job!

I would not retire it unless it's beyond repair. Trust me it is a WAY better grill than the new ones. Truly made in USA rather than "packed in USA".

Of course L Michaels is entitled to his opinion, but I disagree. I have both a 1999 Genesis 1000 and a 2009 Genesis E320, both with east/west burners.
The 1000 has been an excellent grill all these years but the E320 to my way of thinking is a better grill. It’s larger, taller and heats up faster. It cooks really well, has storage and is well built.
It’s like the evolution of a car, like say the Honda Accord. The first Accord was an excellent car but the new one which is also excellent and light years ahead of the original.
My 1000 is regulated to rotisserie duty only now because the E320 is just more enjoyable to grill on. Although I do occasional take for it a spin with some burgers or brats.
If it was me I would hold on to your red top until you’re sure it’s no longer wanted. But I’m sure you would be happy with a new genesis.
