Hello all, I'm not only new to the forum but sorta new to Weber's and grilling. I've already learned a lot from browsing this forum the past few days. I'm amazed at how much information there is about these grills!

I have a 1970s red 18" Kettle I rescued from the trash last summer that's in amazing shape. It seems to cook well but I'm an inexperienced griller. Thanks to this site I was able to figure out it's age, how to clean it up and how to fix the wobbly legs. :-D

I also purchased a 2000-2001 Genesis Silver B off Craigslist the other day. It's rust free with good grates and flavor bars but needs a wheel and it's missing the warming rack/basket. I can't wait to get it cleaned up and cook my first steak!

Home Depot has stainless steel grates and flavor bars for the Silver B and C at 40% off. Would this be a wise investment even though mine are usuable?

Thanks!
Jesse

HoleyMoley Jesse... you most certainly sound like you're in this game GUNG HO! and That's GREAT!

Yeah, Stainless grates are superEZ to clean, never worry about that 4 letter word RUST
AND you found them on sale almost free!

What are you gonna grill tonight??

holyballs! I almost forgot to WELCOME you!
Have FUN pal!

Thank you for the warm welcome, Jim. I always try to start new hobbies the right way. I think I have two grills that will do what I need for a long time. Now all I need to do is start grilling!

Welcome aboard Jesse! Sounds like you are doing it right. I suspect that soon we will hear that you have found a great buy on a WSM. That does seem to be a natural progression. Good Luck.

My girlfriend found a 18.5" L stamped WSM for $30! It's missing the door but I hear those need upgrading anyways. I washed it inside and out with dish soap and it looks brand new. No rust or signs of use. Now to season it after I get a door and learn how to smoke!
