Newb question concerning controlling heat better on my S310

A friend gave me his S310 when he moved and I switched it over from NG to LP by replacing the jets. While its been much better than my original 1000, I am having difficulty with modulating the heat. With all 3 burners on their lowest setting it gets quite hot with the lid closed. Aside from either leaving the top open or shutting down burners, is there another way to modulate the heat better? Thanks in advance.

I agree with Larry, you are asking a question that shouldn't need to be asked. Change the manifold, it's not right.

Yes, you are going to need a part # to get the proper manifold. You can start by posting a picture of the grill, someone here has one just like it and knows the model # of the propane version that you can then use to look up parts. Another option is to find the sticker on your grill that has the model and serial numbers of your unit and use that to Google the propane equivalent. This involves a little detective work on your part, but still isn't too difficult given the vast amount of info on the internet. Changing out the entire manifold is unfortunately the only way to ensure the safe and proper operation of that grill. You may also want to get the tank hanger while you're at it. It sounds like you already have a proper regulator and hose since it is up and running, if not, that also needs to be changed.

The serial number is inside on the vertical section in the center.

Are the controls on the front? Or on the side?

Another safety item.

The NG version does not have a heat shield on the slide out bottom pan.

I suggest mounting the tank on the outside.

A tank hanger gauge for a Silver B will work well and have the correct decals for mounting on the outside RH side.

thanks for all the help.
Good luck with your E310. Replacing the manifold is definitely the best way to go. I'd hang on to the NG manifold. If you move and have NG avail, it's great not having to schlep tanks around.

Here is a thread where I compared the valves.
