Hi I have just received a new WSM 57cm "Big One" boxed brand new happy as larry to have one as you just don't see them here in France it arrived yesterday after being order by the dealer and got built and fired up to burn off factory residue, but I have noticed the enamel seems to be really thin were the door opens and closes it scratches really easy and this does not seem right. I know it will scratch a bit over time but hadn't expected to be this quick it just seems a odd as I own 2 other Weber BBQ's and the have been a lot more robust. Do they all scratch in this spot?

I have been treating it very nice like

Yeah but no matter the case, NO ONE considers a scratched WEBER product acceptable after one day of ownership. I can only wonder if it arrived like that? I would hope that would be the case, as it would be a bad sign of quality (or best case an isolated incident) if the finish could be scratched with one day of careful use.

Either way, you should be covered under warranty. Give Weber a call and tell them what happened.

Yeah... I'd contact Weber. They have great customer service.
I'm sure they would make it right.
On the other hand.... I would not use the smoker until the issue is resolved.
If necessary... show the unit asap to your dealer & have him support your claim.

Considering the door was a little warped when it arrived it is fair to say it could have occurred in transit or at the factory considering how much they cost here in France the door is a bit of a let down but I still love it...

I am not sure Weber's customer service is as good (quick) outside the US, so getting a replacement may be more trouble than it is worth.

A small scratch (or a large one for that matter) will have no effect on the performance or longevity of the smoker, and many smokers come with bent doors. If you cannot bend the door into an acceptable shape, you may get Weber to replace that.

Otherwise, I would use it and not worry about a scratch. I definitely would not wait to get it resolved to use it.which could take a long time since you are in France. It does not look like anything serious - I would forget about it and enjoy the smoker.

After spending the day bouncing emails backwards and forwards as they don't give out a number here for customer service they want to exchange the whole unit I can only guess their spares are slim on the Smokey Mountains, but as I said my 57cm "big one" had to be special ordered as shops don't carry the Smokey Mountains here. It will be returned used as I purchased a nice big bit of Brisket yesterday and I have already burnt it off turn around for the replacement has been quoted at 7 to 10 days.

Well the new one turned up today and the old was returned to the mothership, it did highlight that other one was warped as the new one doesn't have a lid that catches when you lift it on and off I am however missing two washers and one of the legs has been badly drilled so it has two holes joined together.

Getting them back in the box when you didn't pay attention to how it came out is fun...

Now I love my Smokey Mountain but the door is a real let down when you have spent 549 euros they really should come up with a better idea
