New water pan in old 18.5

Any hints in foiling bigger pan? Any tips on clearance between bottom and charcoal? Can I weld, patch, jb weld epoxy, or any other repairs to fix the cancer holes in orignal shallow water pan?

Jeremy,
I would recommend you look for the chrcoal pan out of a Brinkman "ECB" smoker. Fits perfectly in the WSM where the original waterpan goes, and holds twice as much water.

As far as foiling a larger pan, I use some wide heavy duty foil, and join two pieces together by folding the edges together numerous times to make one big piece.

Hope that helps.

That's how I foil as well. J.B. Weld is good stuff but I don't think it's the right product for your fix. It's rated to 600 degrees F and charcoal gets up to 1000.

Jeremy the pan in the 18 WSM is nothing more than the lid off a Smokey Joe... Maybe if you find an old give away SJ just use the lid for a pan.. will need to foil/seal to prevent leaks through the vents.
