New to Collecting Webers

I'm from Missoula Montana. I just joined and just started getting into collecting weber kettle grills. I found out quickly that it can get out of hand!!! I hope some one can give me some advice. I keep seeing what I think to be an older model weber kettle grill that has a black kettle and a gray lid? Is that poor photography? A mis-matched pair? A faded top? or was it a legitimate older Weber model. If so, did it have a name? Thanks for your help!- Mike Carter

I have one of those. I don't know the history as I've only had it a few weeks and have yet to cook on it.

Welcome Michael! Sometimes the top of the kettle will turn gray when left out for a long time uncovered.
Might not look pretty, but they still work well enough......

The grey pattern on the top of the metal bowl handles supports this. It matches the faded lid.

Often referred to as the ”Dreaded Weber Fade”
Thats just what happens to a lot of those old black grills, I gifted two old kettles out which were exhibiting some of that. It does not have any bearing on “Cookability”. Use with confidence!
