Just got around to replacing my hollow SS channel cooking grids that came from the factory on my model year 2005 Summit Gold A4.
The grids were starting to come apart so it was time. I decided to go big and get a set of real, solid rod SS cooking grids.
I bought QTY (2) of part #53s31
These are made from solid stainless steel 3/8" diameter rod. The grill is a whole new animal now. It sears and leaves grill marks with ease. These solid rods hold heat so well. Its no contest when compared to the hollow channel style grids. I came across a weekend sale on Homeclick.com and scored these for $218 shipped. Well worth every penny. They weigh about 10 pounds for each grid.
Some photos of the old and new below.
