MIL’s 80th birthday party!Wow! Thats a load. Special occasion?
I do use three drip pans between bottom grate and flavorizer bars. Too afraid of grease fire meltdown not to.Looks awesome. I would not want to clean up after that cook.![]()
I’d guess around 30. I use Kirkland. How many pounds of pellets did you use?
Smart move on the drip pans. What temp did you use and how much time between the first one done and the last one done?I do use three drip pans between bottom grate and flavorizer bars. Too afraid of grease fire meltdown not to.
Used SmokeBoost for first two hours, then 275. Half were done perfectly at about 10 hours. Three hours later, three more were pretty ok at around 195, two of them were still at only 175-180. They ended up mostly chopped instead of pulled. Definitely some different temp zones, and with that many butts on the SF, it’s a challenge to rotate them. Far left top and bottom were done the soonest, far right were the slowest to cook. Unusual, because usually right side is hotter. I’m guessing the full load and drop pans changed the way the air was flowing inside as compared to a “regular” cook.Smart move on the drip pans. One upgrade on the Sear+ is a folding top grate. Unfolded it fits the full depth of the top rails. Weber MAY sell it for the EX grills but I don't know. Other options for a full depth upper grill grate are: Find someone that makes a stainless steel grate. The company that I knew aboout went out of business. You can order an expanded metal grate from Joesgrillgrates.com or KZL Fabrication. The expanded metal needs attention just like cast iron and both of those vendors are on Facebook.@Gabe Tinti and @Lew Newby I have an EX6 Gen 2. Is there a new upper rack that is the depth of the support rails that I can buy?
