Hello! My name is Jon.
I was looking into getting a smoker and stumbled across the idea of the Smokey Joe mini WSM mod and I already have a Smokey Joe. That's how I found the site. Also, I picked up a Genesis 1000 recently and it's in great shape but I hope to clean it up a bit. This place seems like it has lots of info on those things.
Tonight is the kick off of the annual holy war in my area, but I'm not a follower of the religion or the sport. :p Still, it's a good excuse to use the new(to me) BBQ.
 
Welcome to the forum Jon. Those older grills are rock solid and with care will last for many years to come. Congrats on that new 1000, we love ours.

Welcome to the Forum! I have built several of the Mini-Joe's and they are FINE smokers! I predict that you will treasure it after you have smoked some ribs and Bone-In Boston Butts for GREAT pulled pork.

Send us pictures of your cooks and build progress with the Mini. We LOVE to share our experiences.

You will find this a terrific resource for BBQ of all types.
