Last week brought me another Weber. This time a 1990 Bar-B-Kettle, 22.5."

It was complete from the bowl up, I have a spare OTS that I borrowed from for the rest, will someday buy another set of legs so none of my grills have to be without.

Aside from the handles being a little weatherbeaten, it's in really nice shape.

Looks good next to my "in play" OTS.

She's a beauty Shawn!

You can put some mineral oil on those wooden handles,
it'll revive and protect them.
A big thanks to member George Curtis for the mineral oil trick.

Mineral oil. Shoulda thought of that. It's a recommended treatment for wooden cutting boards, so why not wooden handles for a grill?

Cool. If it makes a dramatic difference I'll post an update pic.

Finally fired this up tonight; made the best pork chops I've had in a long time. It was my first cook on a Weber with the three dampers. I must say I now have more respect for the one touch system than before, but this one also has its advantages. For one, when you shut those dampers, the fire goes out very quickly, which was great with this evening's showers. It was cool to the touch and therefore put away much faster than my one touch grills ever are.

Don't have any pics but it was a near perfect cook and the start of a great friendship.

Took the handles off and let them SOAK in mineral oil for a half hour or so.

I think they turned out pretty nice, hopefully the difference is lasting. Handles don't look new, but don't look bad, either.
