New 2015 KBB - fast ignition


 
Thanks for this post. Yesterday I cooked 2 boneless 8lb Pork Butts. Most of the time the fire was (according to my grate thermometer) 275+. Dome temp was between 225-260. Took 11 hours to get to 195*. (Foiled at 157*) Never had to cook Pork Butts that long before. May try another charcoal, but I loaded up at Home Depot a few weeks ago and have at least 8 bags of this stuff in the Tuff Shed.

So are the new Kingsford Briquettes burning with less heat? Memo to Kingsford: If it ain't broke...
 
My last two cooks were with the new stuff and I really didn't notice much (if any) difference in vent settings or run time.
I think I prefer the old 20# bags! but I bought a bunch of 15#ers last week when Walmart was running the twin packs for 1/2 off.
