Hello fellow carnivores,
i picked up this grill and was wondering if these are worth restoring. The bars are decent and the burners look good. It has some rust on the bottom shelf and a little bit on the legs. I believe it is a gold C SS. Im fairly new to the weber world and would appreciate any info.
thanks

Welcome to TVWBB!

Yes, that is a very worthwhile project grill that can be made to look great again. Of the items you mentioned, the only one that would concern me is how much rust the frame has, especially the bottom of the legs where the casters are. That and the top piece where the firebox bolts to the frame are the notorious problem areas. The top part can be replaced if too far gone. If the legs are really shot that would likely require a donor grill or more serious repairs.

My quick advice is to not be in a hurry and don’t feel you have to buy a box load of new parts. Take your time and check out the “sticky” threads about restorations, parts and how-to ideas. Take advantage of what some of us have learned the hard way. And don’t be afraid to ask questions. We have a good group who loves to see people save classic Weber grills from the landfill. It will take you some time and dirty work, but in the end you will have a grill you can be proud to have done yourself and one WAY better and longer lasting than the junk grills you see out in front of the big box stores!

Jon is spot on. If you are new to disassembling Weber grills, I suggest you take a lot of before pictures from all possible angles so you have a reference for putting it back together. Also, when you remove screws, bolts, and other small parts, put them in a little zip lock bag and mark what they are for and where they came from. Otherwise, you will get it all back together and have several parts still in the bin.

Then like Jon says, look everything over and ask questions before you just go off buying new parts for it. If the major parts of the grill are in good shape, we can get this thing back to excellent shape and like new working order for a surprisingly small amount.

So I got the gold C disassembled today. Basically 3 rust spots that need to dealt with. Overall the thing is in pretty decent condition. The inner liner on the lid looks great. Now its time for the elbow grease!

So its pretty much done. It works great. Only parts I replaced were the casters. Other than that just elbow grease and spray paint. Heres a before and after pic.

I would love some inside pictures. So, you didn't have to replace burners, flavorizer bars or cooking grates? That is great. How much did you have to pay for it.

Good job.

Hey bruce,
the grill was free. It hadn’t been used in 6 years which is why I think the burners And bars were in good condition. I was wondering what the value might be for this grill.
thx
