Decided to upgrade the grill that started my Weber adventure. I bought the green Genesis 1000LX new in 1999. Refurbished it in 2006 and decided to now do an upgrade and bring it out of retirement.
Picked up a 1996 3000LX for $40 in good shape. Stripped it down and cleaned and repainted almost everything. Transplanted the 1000 LX into the 3000 frame.
I didn’t want the side burner as I have two already so I used the shelf off the 1000 in its place.
I also considered replacing the durawood with real wood, but it’s going to be a working grill and the durawood is easy to clean and bullet prof.
Here’s some pictures of the build.
Before
After
Very happy with the outcome.
