I believe it was Douglas Adams Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy Who wrote in The Restaurant at the End of the Universe There are 3 stages to civilization:

Stage 1: Am I going ging to eat today?
Stage 2: What am I going to eat today?
Stage 3: Where should we do lunch?

Please excuse me if this was too philosophical. I'm 3 hours away from supper. The smoke must be getting to me.
