My frankenstein Genesis Platinum / Gold build - Looking for recommendations for grates?

Essentially took 3 trash picked Weber Genesis Silver/Gold/Platinum grills and put together this one nice grill, (and one other passable grill) back in 2022. It's been sitting unused and covered up since then. I think i've only cooked one meal on this grill!

Planning to replace the propane manifold on this one with a natural gas one and put it into duty this summer at the beach full time at the in law's house. I think I'd like to upgrade the grates to the stainless steel ones. is the consensus that the qulimetal ones on amazon are the best ones to get for this grill, now that rcplanebuyer no longer makes them?

It looks like you already have stainless steel grates on that grill, or at least one? Those Weber stamped stainless steel grates are pretty tough to beat quality wise.

I have two, just stacked them on top for the picture. I always thought that the rounded ones were better than these stamped grates. If that's the case, i may just run with these to start.

By all means get new grates if you want to. I've been very happy with the stamped ones over the years is all I'm saying. The ones I'm currently using are original to my 2002 Genesis Gold C and they are still perfect.

Nice looking rig. But Qulimetal are the best Amazon grates I’ve had. But I agree with Steve. Unless you want SS Rod grates, those stamped SS ones are pretty dang good.

Yes, they were. I still have three of those sets. I should have bought a dozen of them.
Yer welcome.

I've still got three sets of the porcelain steel channel grates that are in good shape and I think the cook very well. I'd love to upgrade to a set of SS channel grates or heavy rod grates - but I just can't justify it at this point. I still have a really nice set of cast irons too that I'm reluctant to use knowing that they will rust without more use and care.

I'm more impressed with the CI grates on the Q grills myself at this point --- talk about putting grill marks on meat!!!

Yeah --- thats what I'm looking forward to in the future!
One or two thighs or several legs should be interesting. I've got a pork loin thats gonna get slabbed and marinated and the Q is the PERFECT tool to mark it without turning it to leather.

The thing that I've figured out and am worried about is that once a Q gets hot --- it DOES NOT cool off very quickly.... those grates hold a LOT of heat! Its gonna be fun figuring out to to run it right --- pretty much meant for hot and fast - or just a longer medium.
