Please accept my sincere condolances on the passing of your father. We are better people, country, and world as a direct result of the sacrifices and hardship he and his generation endured, present circumstances notwithstanding. He survived the Depression and WWII and probably wouldn't have traded a minute of it. While I never knew him, I'm certain he was a man of integrity and conviction. My belated thanks to him for his service to our country in the worlds darkest hours. My prayers are with you and your family.
Too, I had the opportunity, in the late '70's , of working closely with many veterans of Viet Nam as a civilian employee at West Point. I must say that, to a man, the one's I met were cut from the same cloth as their fore-fathers, the vets of WWII. They performed their duties when their county called, often under the most horrific conditions. And I say to you what I said to them: Thank you.
