Any ideas for a metal platform / base when using the 14 inch WSM on a wooden surface? Large pizza pan, etc?

Pick up a oil drip pan that you use in your garage that’ll work

This is what I set under my 14” WSM. It was cheap and works great. Picked it up at Autozone.

Rusty, I just move my flame proof mat from in from of my grill to where I setup the WSM. Available at Lowe's, etc. for about $35 (under $40 now?).
