I opened my (almost) brand new bag of oak smoke wood and found a few pieces had some white/green mold on the wood. Should i throw out these pieces? or can i burn off that mold prior to assembling the smoker?

Nah don't toss it. You could do a pre burn or just brush off the mold with a stiff brush.
If you find alot of pcs you can sanitize the wood for smoking.
Dilute 1.5 ounces of household bleach in 3 gallons of water. Submerge the wood in that mix for a few minutes, pour off the solution and let the wood air-dry.
Store your wood in a well ventilated box or container ( I use dollar store laundry baskets).
Keep it in a cool dry location out of direct sunlight.
The sanitizing and storage tips are from Smokinlicious where I buy my schmokewood from.
