Merkt's Cheddar Burgers

There is this little place in Des Plaines, IL that I eat at called the Paradise Pup. They make a 1/3 pound cheese burger with Merkt's cold pack cheddar. The only thing else I get on it is grilled onions. I made home made version today for lunch.

Here is a link to Food TV's story on them. (Sorry about the commercials on their site.)

I started off sauteing up some onions and toasting the buns.

Next I tossed on the 1/3# ground chuck patties. Fresh never frozen.

I go the extra step and grind it myself.

Plated up with a container of the Merkt's Cheddar.

I use chuck roast. When I go into the store and they want $2.99 a pound for ground chuck and chuck roasts are $2.29 a pound it makes it a no brainer.

I just trim the roast to my liking, cut into strips and feed it through the meat grinder on my KitchenAid mixer.
