Thanks everyone for the kind words about Abby.
She is doing great, she was eleven weeks old Tuesday and for such a young age she is really picking up the house rules. 99% house trained no accidents in the last three days, sleeping all night in her crate at least till 6am (thank goodness, those 3am potty trips in 18 degree temperatures were not fun). She will come on command and does sit, down and stay on command and actually is walking on her leash really well.
Barb and I couldn't be happier with her progress. She seems to only need a couple of repetitive commands to pick up what she needs to do.
The only reward she seems to want when she does something well is a lot of praise and a nice long tummy rub, and we are happy to provide both of those.

Labs are just all-around GREAT dogs!
I've almost NEVER seen a "nasty" one (unless it was owned by some piece of human excrement who should not be allowed to do so)
They're just so motivated to please...
Just be sure that there are no priceless nick-nacks within the tail-sweep area - that lab tail can be a real hazard when attached to a happy dog.... ;-P
