It sounds like the title of a bad horror movie but it's actually the name of a butcher shop on the east side of Madison, WI. I'd driven by it several times before deciding to stop today, and I'm glad I did. I'll let their website provide the details:

They had some really good-looking cuts in the case and I left with a slab of plate ribs for tomorrow's supper. Plus the people that work there are very friendly and more than willing to chat if there's time, so I'll definitely return.

Very erratically and infrequently at this point. I have a backlog of photos that need to be processed, but I've been pretty pressed for time lately.

In fact, I probably should be doing that now instead of wandering around here...

I’m there almost once a week. My 11 year old daughter won’t eat any other deli ham but theirs. Picked up two racks of spare ribs and a single brisket rib (for a test) earlier today. Everyone that works there is super friendly and super helpful!!

Oh wow! I have GOTTA get there. Madtown is not a bad drive for me. And if the stuff is as good as it sounds online I could see going there to stock up and putting my new vacuum sealer to work

I'll let ya know. I used to be up there quite often. Had a good friend with a really nice boat. We would sneak up away from our offices and be on the water. Heck mobile phones worked as well as office phones. We used to joke that we got more business done on the water than in our offices. And the funny thing was it almost true. Sadly he's gone.

Edward, did you ever get to Underground Butcher back when they had a retail space? I wouldn't be surprised if there's some kind of a link between them and Meat People.

Yep, I was a regular patron at Underground. Some nice people that used to work there, although not quite same level of a “family” vibe that I get when I visit Meat People. If I recall correctly, there was some questionable stuff reported about one of the Underground partners/owners as they were shutting down. They still produce some good cured meats, but no storefront any longer. In fact I think I have a sopressatta in my fridge that was a Christmas gift.
