Maverick Remote Therm

For whatever reason, it keeps loosing its "link" back to the transmitter at the smoker. Any ideas? it sure is a pain to take the back off the transmitter, and turn them both off to get them back in sync.

Thanks

The transmitter is working ok, but the receiver shows LLL or HHH?
I don't bother securing the battery cover onto the transmitter when in use. If it is raining, I just place the transmitter in a plastic bag to keep it dry.

all these fancy thermos I read about, everyone has problems with them it seems.
I have been afraid to buy one.
I have two analog probes, one in the top vent for cooker temp, one through the top vent and into the meat (a turkey cooker thermo).
I can see them through the window.

It shows the temp of the smoker (i didn't have the meat probe in)- for a while, then goes"- - -"

Turning it off and on does nothing. The only way to reestablish is to walk back down to the smoker, turn off the transmit, while having the receiver on-- cycle it off then on, and then it beeps and back in business.

Thought maybe the batteries were getting low or something since it will make it back upstairs with me for a while, receiving just fine-- and then it looses it.

Other potential factor is that I am using a BBQ GURU fan- -and I notice the pit temp seems to fluctuate back and forth a bit (ie 225,226,225,226) and I wonder if that causes the transmitter to send too often. Although you would think that would keep the connection going.

Maybe I should just pull the cover off the back and get used to resetting every hour or two.

Yeah, Dave-- my other house (just moved recently) I could pretty much do that- -but now, it is downstairs through the garage, so no way to see without walking all the way down there. I'd rather roll over in my bed and see that all is well just by looking at the nightstand!

This is going to sound really lame so forgive me. Try this. Turn both the transmitter and receiver off. Then turn the receiver on followed by the transmitter. See if that helps. People on this board many times have said that they have contacted customer service and were taken care of very promptly. I wouldn't hesitate to contact them with your issue.
Yes, maybe the problem is as simple as your batteries. I've had my ET73 for a few months and it works, except that it is 4* off in boiling water. According to mine, water boils at 208*. Who knew?

Unfortunately, the ET-73 does not and has not worked as advertised.

If you do a search for it, you'll find a rather lengthy (12 page) thread from 2 years ago regarding the limited transmission range.

I will agree that the ET-73 does not perform exactly as advertised (100'... yeah right) and some therms may even be a few degrees off. But I gotta tell ya I'm pretty happy with mine. Especially for use with the WSM. I've had two for a few years now and I don't think I've ever even had to change the batteries. I just use them for guides and don't really care if they are pinpoint accurate or not. Knowing I'm close is good enough. My 73's won't get a signal in our bedroom either, but if I'm that worried about the temps on any particular night I'll sleep on the couch that night. Or, you could get a baby monitor, then set the 73's receiver someplace that it gets a good signal, set your 73's alarms to the next temps you'll be shooting for and place the baby monitor's transmitter next to the 73's receiver, now carry or set the baby monitor receiver somewhere you can hear it. When the 73's alarm goes off you'll hear it on the baby monitor and can take whatever steps that need to be taken.

I'd buy another one without hesitation.

Rick
