Mav. 732 issue.

Was cooking a boston butt today and at about the 8 hour mark or so, with the internal meat temp at 181 the meat temp just went blank. Restarted and it came up but after a few seconds went blank again. Did it several times with the same results. So I dug out the instruction manual and it said that that taking it out of the meat and letting cool off could be the answer. So I did that, put it back in, and it worked fine. Anyone else had this issue?...............d

Mine wouldn't keep communications right out of the box, unless the transmitter and receiver were about a foot apart. I found the overall quality to be severley lacking and sent it back.

Just an observation, my maverick will act up when the probes aren't completely plugged into the unit. Sometimes they come out slightly with slight movements of the unit hosting the probes

Yep, that can happen, however, I was laid back on the couch with the mav receiver next to me on a table when I glanced over to see no reading. I did check the probes, but both were punched in all the way.

Maverick is pretty good about replacing things when they go bad. I had a probe break on me (pulled completely loose from the wire) and I was past warranty. Maverick sent me a brand new one at no cost instead of charging me the regular $12 for a new one.

I had the same issue.. probe fell apart. Mav sent me a replacement but they are out of stock on the pit probe so I got a "dual purpose" probe ie food probe.

I want to do the same but can't find the receipt. Wonder if they'll still take it? I just wasn't impressed as I just use the dome thermometer then probe the meat.

I've got a 732 in the box unopened. I'm going to try at some point, but if it breaks or doesn't work I'm done with these fancy expensive thermometers. The last time I cooked something and needed a thermometer I went throught #2 probe thermometers. The first was some no name wireless thermometer that never worked right from the start - it got launched across the deck. The 2nd was a williams sonoma digital probe that worked well for a few years, but finally gave up. I'm not sure if the lid to the grill pinched the wire and caused problems or what. I just ended up using a dial thermometer and it worked perfectly. I've got my Taylor candy thermometer to put it the vent of the WSM and my dial thermometer for the meat that has served me well for years. As time goes on I've come to the conclusion that these fancy digital probe thermometers are more bother than they're worth.

^^^Give the 732 a try. You will love it. Very good range and mine has been dependable/reliable for every cook
