Seeing as how I have a 60 yr old Maple in my yard always losing limbs and I have a nice pile of it . Just how good a smoking wood is it ? And for what meats ?

Maple is good stuff! Let it dry after you chunk it. It is good for fish and chicken, anything that doesn't need a real strong smoke flavor.

Guy, have used it for many years. Produces a milder smoke. Some people have used sugar maple with great results.

Maple is an excellent smoking wood.

Any of the "syrup" maples would work well - Sugar, Red, Silver, Black.

As already noted, it's produces a milder smoke that is typically used for everything but beef.

I not sure what kind it is all I know is has a pile a seeds on it every yr . But I got a pile of it already dried out and ready to burn .We been thinking about cutting it then I would have a 2 lifetime supply .

If you post a pic I'm sure someone could help you figure out what type of maple it is. If you do, post a pic of the entire tree, and then a close-up of the leaf.

Thanks!
