Lump Slough

I have been using Lump (Lazzari mostly) for several years and now have at least a 25 lb bag of little tiny chunks to dust. Lump slough. Too small to really be effective in a smoker. What do you do with this stuff? Toss it? Has anyone tried to reconstitute it with corn starch? Or?

I would use the little tiny chunks and throw the dust away. The little tiny chunks are filler when you're packing the ring.

I usually just throw the small stuff on top of already lit chunk's once there in the grill. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

That's what I do.

The little chunks are 1/2" or less. I have a co-worker that has 12 ton press and we're going to try and make blocks. I've read that corn starch is a good binder. Any other options?

I want to see those results!
Arrowroot starch, potato starch...

I just grilled a cornish hen indirect last night at 350, filling the char basket with what was almost entirely little pieces. It worked just fine. Probably burns up a little quicker, but I didn't have trouble controling temp.
