Looking for good BBQ in the Tulsa area

Can anyone recommend a good bbq restaurant in the Tulsa area? I'm actually staying in Jenks right now for the next few days. This is a rare treat for me since good bbq is rare where I live in Southern California.......

Thanks for the reply. I've tried a couple local places that were very good to me. The best so far was catered at a wedding tonight--pulled pork and Brisket. The menu from Knotty Pine looks great. Can't believe how low the prices are.

I just stumbled onto this thread and probably too late for the visitor wanting to know about Tulsa Q. Tulsa has quite a few and the Knotty Pine is one of my favorites,, in fact it was my first experience with bar-b-q when I was in high school back in the early 50’s. A few of my other favorites are,,

Albert G’s http://www.albertgs.com/about.php (Brooks & Dunn hit this one)

Billy Sims http://billysimsbbq.com/index.php (Billy is the former OU and Detroit Lion running back and he has great pulled pork)

Wilson’s Bar-B-Q

(don’t go here if you are on a diet as you get either sweet potato or buttermilk pie with your meal)

Thanks Rob. I'm back home now but went to billysims and a place called Big Daddy's. To me they were both great. Will go to Knotty next time. I was in heaven and will probably have to lay off bbq for a few days since I ate like a pig........

Sorry I'm just now checking in - I would have sent you to Mac's in Skiatook, for starters. He's an old competitor, with a number of top awards from both the Jack and Royal hanging on the wall. Absolutely the best in the state. Small little hole-in-the-wall-joint, but they're lined up at the door when he opens up. The Split Rail out east of Broken Arrow on Highway 51 is also very good.

And, yes, if I had checked in earlier and found your post in time, we would indeed have fired up a cooker or two and invited you over to Broken Arrow for some OK-style award-winning groceries.

My apologies for missing you, Jeff!

Thanks for the hospitality Keri. We went to the Bass Pro Shop in Broken Arrow on Friday night. Couldn't believe all the people buying fishing tackle in this economy.

I'll go to Mac's next time......
