Looking at propane smokers ... .

I know, I know, I'm going to Hades to be slow smoked for eternity but l've been looking at propane smokers online today and have narrowed it down to two which are very similar.

The only differences I can see is the one from Home Depot says it is "dual fuel," good for propane and charcoal. It's also very slightly larger and has wheels.

I'm hoping some of you folks have some experience with either one or both and would be willing to talk about it here. If you fear being called a heretic or infidel, please send me a private message.:)

The price on these is the same.

Hello Stan,

Take a look at the reply I wrote in your other propane smoker thread regarding capacity. If you can swing it, get one of the larger capacity smokers. They do cost more but are worth it in the long run. In that standard capacity model, you wont' be able to fit a whole rack of ribs in it, let alone a whole turkey......

Hi Brian,

I just watched this video in which the guy smokes a 20lb turkey in a Masterbuilt Pro Dual Fuel smoker, the one sold at Home Depot.

And there are a ton of pictures of it here.

It has four smoking grates and looks like it holds plenty. I think you're right about having to cut full rib tacks in half but with four grates you could still smoke 4 full racks of ribs.

This is the one I'll be getting. It holds much more than enough for my needs.

Once I've learned this one, I plan on asking some friends to participate in some blind taste tests Masterbuilt Pro vs WSM 18.5. Should be interesting.
