So.......If you notice in the pic there is a character chip in the lid. I'm torn on just leaving it or finding another lid. What is the opinion of Weber land?

I'm a patina guy myself. I like my knives with carbon steel blades because they patina. One of my artisan razors is copper for the same reason. I love antiques. There's a level of decay that, to me, feels charming and is distinct from "junk". Think of Paris. If you've been there, you know that all these beautiful old buildings aren't in danger of falling down but they sag and tilt in ways unique and charming to each one.

If it was me, I'd polish the lid just as it is. Get it gleaming like a mirror and leave the chip alone.

I am very excited about starting on her. I'm off next week so I'll be able to focus on it. She will be the Queen of Weber family around here.

I have an extra 26 bowl from the warranty leg sockets. My next major project was going to be building a performer with it. So now i have two projects going..

I'll see your 5 (edit - 7) and raise you 10.

Well, I do that when I can pull the 10 out of my hiding places when my wife won't see them.

John,
I restored a couple of those myself. Check out my thread:

I have a lot of pictures showing the older parts. You can also see a copy of the owners manual for them at:

Good luck with your restoration!

Gerry
