Long term storage.

What is the best way to store a smoker for the off season? Hate to put her away so early in the year, but I wanna make sure she will be ready when I get back.

Somewhere covered, a secure garage or shed would be best. Leaving the vents open will prevent/reduce mould growth, but may let unwanted visitors in. I've stored my wsm for 5 months with all vents closed and not had any mould, I was a little paranoid about bugs making it their home.

There is no "off-season" for smoking. However, inside a garage/shed is best. I clean it and close all vents and then I put a large garbage bag over it to keep it clean. Those contractor size garbage bags work great. I also take a bungee cord and wrap it around the unit at the bottom just to snug things up. I would for sure do the garbage bag and bungee cord if I had to keep it outside. I store mine inside and the bag is probably not necessary. Note: If you don't bungee the bottom of the bag around the unit, air will get under and lift the bag off. I also take the bag and tuck it up inside itself at the bottom so none of the bag is touching the ground.

Not really an" off season". I'm going underway for a few months and just don't want any thing to start growing/living in my smoker while I am gone.
