Lilac Wood

Some research says OK to smoke. A milder smoke flavor. Best for fish and poultry. Have some from a lilac tree that had to be cut down. Any experiences out there?

Hi Dan,

My Mom did some major pruning to her lilac and I have it drying. Have yet to try it. Have you since this post?

The wood chart I have says lilac has the following smoking characteristics:

"Very light, subtle with a hint of floral"

"Good with seafood & lamb"

I was going to try it with ground beef the next time

Not yet, but I may give it a try when smoking some salmom for a friend of mine.
