Life ran away with us

Been too long. About 7 weeks ago I think I said that we were looking at a new possible home. I'm back to say we just closed on a townhouse in Fearrington Village south of Chapel Hill. I've long said I would only leave our woodland home feet first. Could still happen, but I expect to be walking away (with some real regret) in another 5-8 weeks. After years of looking and being turned down, Sheila finally found an new ideal home for us. Almost all of what she wants and almost all of what I want. A little smaller but all daily living on one level with two extra bedrooms (one for her craft room) and a bath upstairs. Only 8 miles away and far more convenient. Very private in the middle of a 2500+ home subdivision.

Yes the grill and smoker go with me. Life continues 😊. It's been an intense 7 weeks! Buying a house is not the same as 30 years ago -- especially for retirees. Over and over more and more demands for documentation. Very little time for any real cooking. Glad I've perfected working from frozen and cans.

So I want to get more active here again amid remodeling our new place (mostly minor updates for Sheila), packing up and downsizing 30 years worth, and moving before more minor work here (we've kept the place updated) to get ready to sell.

All in all, I'll keep doing my thing in a quiet, secluded, wooded environment. But I do expect to attract more attention from neighbors and not just squirrels and deer.

Congrats!
I swore I'd die here too, but as we get older and less able to take care of the yards, downsizing may happen.

Congratulations though hard to imagine anything being private in a 2500 home townhouse development. But in any case wish you both all the best
I agree, Larry. I was really floored when I saw the place. Despite the size, the community is surprisingly quiet and we lucked on a tucked away location where in the back yard, we can't even see neighbors. Driving in yesterday, I looked around specifically about that and just didn't see others -- though I certainly didn't see all. This community is almost 60 years old and clearly had a genius designer. (Our townhouse was built in 1984. Our house here is 30.)
