I just answered a craigslist ad for a Performer. Lefties who have Performers, does the lid holder being on the left side cause any problems?

Lew, i do not own one, butt i gotta admit, that would certainly factor into me NOT gettin' one.
I stood next to one in the store and thought,
<span class="ev_code_GREY">"This thing is backwards!"</span>

I do everything left-handed. Including eetin'!

I'm right handed, but often end up working from the "back" of the Performer anyways because I find it easier to check temps with tongs in the left hand and thermometer in the right.

It means I have to walk around to start/stop the gas lighter but I don't find that a big deal.

The really tough part is finding left handed tongs!

I'm not left handed but it seems to me that if you can situate the performer where you have access to either side, you should be OK.

Being a rightie, it took me a second to figure out what the problem might be.
Sitting out in the open, I can't see any issues at all.
Fire it up from one side, tong it from the other.

Lew, I understand your concern. I have learned to live with it. A larger annoyance for this southpaw is the fact that the tuck-away lid holder does not allow the lid to clear the grate as well as my slide-aside on another kettle.

</div></BLOCKQUOTE>I see it could work that way, but with the deck furniture, it would have to be parallel to the railing.
