Last year of blue OTG?

We don't have independent confirmation of that yet. I've put a call into a source, we'll see what they come back with. Blue OTG 22.5" is still on Amazon for $159 with free shipping...if you have always wanted one, why not buy now? :D

You're right. Just ordered a blue one to be safe. Time to donate one of the 2 old kettles. I'll keep the old Sears Weber for a dedicated rotisserie unit or to start coals on.

Maybe they are going to come out with a cool new color......red head?

May do just that. My black 22 OTG that I used in Comps is pretty well shot, so if they are going to discontinue th eblue then I'll just get one now. Besides, it'll match my $15 CL refuge blue 18 OTG.

Sorry about that. I was researching how to smoke Bluefish...
Could be worse...you could have been busted for researching something embarrassing...like something other than a Weber! :D

Don't hold your breath waiting for a new red grill...but you can find an old one out there somewhere and refurbish it. Good luck! :)

Rumor on the street is Crimson Red for the '14 model year. Hope this one comes to fruition. lol
Given that Weber is paying a lot of attention to what their customers are doing online, and no doubt being aware of the popularity of old redheads, it would make sense for them to work hard on coming up with a red color that's a good, solid red. We'll never go back to the old red, but there's got to be something better than brick red or burgundy or maroon of the past. Right? :)

I was looking at examples of crimson red online...kind of a darker shade of red, but still identifiable as red. It would be a good compromise, I think. Let's hope Weber found a good supplier for this material!

You are exactly correct --- it won't be the cherry red of old, but much better than the other attempts. (brick red, maroon, etc...)

Having a handful (5) of older red kettles, I hope the crazing & porcelain popping at the grate supports is 'fixed' on the new reds compared the older ones I've picked up.

Seems like wherever there's a weld, it's always the weak spot. I'm disappointed to see rust starting to form around the lid handle of my 26.75" kettle, and it's only 5 years old and has been kept warm and dry, for the most part. Bummer.

My guess is it that Crimson kettles will look more like a "hot" red... meaning like when the old reds warm up they get a crimson or plum like hue..

though weber listens, we hope, they still seem to miss the mark or take to long.
i still think they need to work closer with chris.
and they will always miss the boat by not selling all the stuff they make. even if its
only through the factory.

If you need an example of crimson might I suggest roll tide.com? There are several wonderful examples. That said I would definitely want an awesome Alabama crimson Weber.

the process of coating the porcelain on the lid and body just doesn't get the stuff into the small spaces. i just spray pam at those joints and after a couple of treatments the rust stops. bolting on the handles might not stop the rust but it would sure make it easier to deal with.

We have confirmation from a Weber dealer that blue will not be offered in 2014, so get your blue kettles while they last!

Confirmed new colors for 2014 are crimson red and copper.
