Labor Day Loaf

Looking for a quick & easy Labor Day burn, I settled on the Smoked Meatloaf recipe from TWVB.

Last time I tried meat loaf, I put it directly on the grill with predictably less than optimal results. It pretty much tore apart as I removed it from the grill. I then tried a disposable aluminum pan but wasn't satisfied with the smoke penetration nor the liquid retention. Creating a tin foil "pan" just seemed wrong, somehow.

I had long planned to purchase one of those mesh loaf baskets when I remembered that I had retained this artifact from my ECB days...

A quick application of PAM spray on, and I was in business. I was shocked by how FAST my loaf cooked up. I burned a full Lazzari charcoal load wide open assuming that I would need about 1.5 hours. When I went apply the glaze after an hour, it was already at 145. I figured another 30 minutes, but by then it was 185! Seems the all-around exposure to heat drastically reduced the cooking time. It tasted pretty good, though! Clean up was accomplished with a judicious application of a metal brush and a water spray.

Sadly, no pics of the loaf as it was dispatched in short order. Next time around, though...

EDIT: Hot link removed. Thanks for the reminder Bill. No harm, no foul and I know your heart was in the right place.

Hot Link Alert !! LOL So, no pics of the meatloaf?

EDIT: You know, it's really irritating when people go back behind my post and change theirs like was just done .. The hot linked image was removed and commentary added about no pics ... I should have "quoted" you post so it would have been locked into mine. That's happened many, many times to me and mostly, I don't quote in order to save Chris' bandwidth, which C. Howlett obviously had no issues with in stealing from someone else. From now on, I will quote !!

I'm sure Chris A. will delete this post promptly...
