Kroger Lump

As long as we're talking charcoal, has any tried Kroger lump. I'm in the middle of a bag and it seems comparable to the Royal Oak I've been using for years. Would love to hear what you all think.

Thanks Charles. The people at the feed store have been rude for 25 years so I'm happy to switch to Kroger. And you're right about the South. Go Heels.

Hey Les, I have used Kroger lump before, quite a few times, I love the smell when you first start the burn, I have not had any problems with using Kroger lump.

Kroger lump works well, both on the grill and the smoker. Reasonable price, burns well with little ash. As previously noted, it smells great when you first light it.

Thanks, guys. I'll stop by Kroger and try it out.

How're ya, Les? Nine Heels taken in the draft -- and the basketball team is returning. Gonne be fun!

Can't wait til next season-my 25 year old son is a rabid fan also. As he's 900 miles away and it gives us a chance to stay in touch. We're both beyond excited. Hope you missed the bad weather.

And think I'll stick with Kroger lump.

I'm always looking for good and relatively inexpensive sources for lump or briquettes. RO and Stubbs have been my finds though K at the Lowe's sale remain by far the best price. I'll be getting to Kroger tomorrow.

The storms completely skipped over us here, Les -- not even much rain. Bad tornadoes hit all around our area though. My daughter lives 30 miles away and they smashed through about a 1/2 mile from her. Scary to see (though she had said they were missed) when we went to visit. That was really nasty for most of this region of the country. Gotta feel for those folks who we in the paths.

Thanks, Les.

I just bought a couple of RO lump 10 lb bags for $6.86 each at Walmart. No sale indicated, but last time it was over $10 for the same bag.

Rich,

Are you sure the $10 bag wasn't the 17.6# bag? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Actually, no. But I remember that it was a lightweight bag. Since it was the first bag of RO I'd bought, I didn't particularly notice the weight (just the cost). And I only got two short cooks from it.

But thanks for the heads up, Matt. I'll be more aware from now on. I'm pretty good with 10 lb of RO at $6+.

I did pick up a bag each of the Kroger lump and briquettes. This with the RO I have and a leftover bag of Kingsford will get me into the summer and let me judge what I like best. Now just need a chance to get by Trader Joe's. If that's actually Rancher, then I'll have hit all that I want to check out except the Wicked Good (mostly curiosity do to the cost).
