for wood chunks and lump charcol?..great selection on the kingsmoke website, but have a bbq galore 30 min away (never been)

was wondering about the shipping if i go with kingsmoke and get several 14 lb bags..thx

David,

I recently bought some pecan and sugar maple from Kingsmoke and was very satisfied with the size of the chunks and the service. They arrived here within 5 days of me placing my order. I didn't think the shipping was that bad.

However if I had a store 30 minutes from my door selling the same product I would buy from there.

Kingsmoke is in zip 68134. You could rate a UPS shipment at UPS' website to get an idea of how much it would cost to ship to your zip. Although their order form appears to have standardized shipping rates.

BBQ galore does have a good selection, but be aware that there is some concerns about BBQ galore lump charcoal. On the lump website newer bags of BBQ galore lump have rated lower than older. Perhaps there has been a manufacture change.

I don't know about the lump charcoal, but as far as BBQ Galore wood chunk selection it is pretty good. I don't have one where I live, but I drove down to Dallas once for work. I loaded up my poor Camaro with lots of wood. I know they carry Alder, Oak,Cherry,Apple,Pecan, and of course Hickory and Mesquite chunks. I found a local source for Pecan, but thinking I may have to make a road trip to Atlanta BBQ Galore to get Apple cause I love it and ran out a few months ago. If it is only 30 mins away I would definitely check it out to see if they have what you want, cause shipping charges will be insane.

BTW- Anyone know of a source between Nashville and Huntsville where I can get Apple chunks? I would hate to drive all the way to Atlanta to get them.
