keeping new EP-330 looking new

Broken in my new Steel Grey EP-330 and going on about 6 good outings. I have some questions about keeping it new on the outside.

1. Staining grey paint on end caps of lid and cookbox (brown in color)

Not sure if using Easy-off this early in the grills life is worth it for the stained end caps. Eventually many years into the life i would consider maybe painting that part black (not sure if it would match unless i paint the cook box too)

2. Smoke rainbow looking stains on steel grey enamel on the lid (front and back). Really only visible up close or if looking from an angle.

I've only used Windex to clean the porcelain lid. Anything else safe to use to see if can get it looking like the rest of the lid?
 
gonna try a few different products on the back of the lid to see if it discolors before i put on the front.

Good advice, Garth. So did you ever do this and was it successful? I had major stains on my end caps of the E-310 which I could never get off (nothing worked that I tried). Since I just got a new EP-330, I'd like the prevent the same problem.

I've used Grease Lightening on my EP330. I too had some staining on the side of the lower firebox. most of it came off with a scrungee sponge and some Grease Lightening, but not all. but hell...it's a grill.

I've only used Windex on the red enameled steel and stainless.

I have a SS310, but this works excellant on my black performer also, SOS pads cheap and super soapy work in a shady area if you can so the soap will dry out so fast. And do not rub hard on a stain,the smoke stains come right off with this also, let the soap do its job always work the pad in one direction if possible. After you are done with wash dry it off and then wax it I like to use Meguiars 21 it is a syntheic so it will ont burn of with the heat like a carnuba would, and it last a long time and makes the next clean up much easier. I just did mine this spring worked great looks almost new again.
Oh yeah SOS pads also work good in the fire box, if you need more help, spray Simple Green it will not hurt your grass or animals.A putty knife gets the big stuff off, and a small wire brush or just a plastic brush like used for gun cleaning slod at Wally World. Hope this helps you.

Just don't use the SOS on the stainless.

Ok but then do not watch OVERHAULIN or go to a body shop that is cleaning up a olderr car that is what is used on stainless, we use it on Acft part (the 0000 steel wool).

I use Gel-gloss on everything, bought it for my RV and use it on my Silver B and kettle with good results. Buffs out to a mirror shine. Treat the finish like a kitchen stove, same material, tons of products to keep it cleaned and polished.
 
Some of these responses are fine for the stainless or the porcelain hood, but the specific concern addressed was for the cast aluminum (painted?) end caps on the hood and the firebox. That is a much different issue and may well require a different approach to avoid damage.

I'd like to ask that if you are saying that you have successfully used a product or technique on the cast aluminum END CAPS that you explicitly say so. Otherwise, I would be hesitant to use some of these suggestions. And I would definitely first do as Garth said, and test on an inconspicuous spot on the back of the firebox.

That's fine for body work. But you don't want to be cleaning your Stainless Steel hood on your Genesis or Summit with an SOS pad. It will scratch it.

You are correct, what I mean is to use this to clean the worst areas, to bring them back to almost new then you can use many other less harsh methods to keep them looking good, and like I said before never use a lot of presurer when cleaning let the product do most of the work, Sorry if I did not explain properly easy to misunderstand.

Get it anywhere, Home deep hole, Lowes,Ace, True Value etc.
