k comp.

Definitely seems like it burns hotter. I haven't used it enough in the WSM to say whether that's good or bad but I'm thinking it'll mean a refuel on longer cooks. I've heard other people do a mixture of comp and regular. Maybe I'll try that next.

I'm using it now for the first time. I got it at Costco. They did not have the regular Blue bag.
First of all, it's more expensive.
It burns fast on slow cooks. Loaded the WSM full added 3 chunks of Hickory and 3 Apple. Started Minion method w/ 30 lit. 27 degrees outside. Stated it at 11pm. By 7am it was all gone! Found a half bag of blue and refueled for the rest of the cook. I'll save the second bag of K Comp for Grilling. Last time I'll use for long cook.

I would agree that it burns faster and I'm not a huge fan. I usually stick with the blue bag but every now and then Costco or Home Depot run a very good sale on the comp that you just can't beat. Therefore, I'll only buy the comp when it's on a great sale and cheaper than my boy blue!

OK for HH and grilling if you don't like to use lump; less ash than regular K, but still too much to be a quality briq IMHO. Try Stubbs if you want a faster burning briquette.
